Before & Afters

Guys, I'm really excited about this post. It won't be very wordy but there's a reason for that.

Over the last 6 months, I've joined several amazing Facebook groups that all preach #communityovercompetition. The photographers that make up those groups amaze me with their commitment to being as transparent as possible when it comes to their work. It's the transparency that has fostered this amazing community of photographers who are willing to help others rather than compete with them.

It's so encouraging to see the RAW files of photographers who's work I really admire and strive to emulate. You see some of these files and realize how much potential yours have! It's all these before & after photos that have convinced me to really brush up on post-processing. Anyone can tweak exposure and contrast but to really edit a photo, it takes a keen eye and a strong sense of style to know which way you'd like to proceed.

I'll be honest, I still don't have an exact editing style down! Sometimes, shoots beg to be edited light and airy with an ethereal-feel to them. Othertimes, dark, moody, and film-like is the way to go. You'll notice that in the examples I've posted below. What I have noticed though, is how much my post-processing technique has changed and refined over the last year. In some of the below photos, while they're not my better work, I felt like they were good examples of SOOC (straight-out-of-camera) shots and their final versions.

So, in the spirit of community and transparency, enjoy my before & afters!

(Side note: sorry the images don't blow up to full screen if you click on them. I'm working with my blog to try and resolve that issue!)

Some of these images come from shoots yet to be published so keep an eye out for those in the near future!
