When Bethany and Ryan first contacted me back in February about their wedding, which included their dog as the wedding party and a post-ceremony hike up Mt. Jo, they had me hook, line and sinker. In their initial inquiry, Bethany described their wedding as non-traditional and intimate, with just a few close family members and friends in attendance. As avid adventurers, her and Ryan wished to combine their love for the outdoors and the beauty of the Adirondacks on their big day.
The result was a small, intimate ceremony set in the amphitheater of the Adirondak Loj in Lake Placid, NY. Immediately following the ceremony, a toast was made, sneakers donned, and an enthusiastic group of family and guests began their way up the mountain with bride, groom, and best dog leading the way.
After reaching the summit, we hung out for a bit and marveled at the beauty of the Adirondacks. Which quite honestly, never grows old, even with living here full time! An hour later, we made our way back down and met up with the remainder of the guests who had ventured back to their rented cabins for the reception.
A short drive up the hill to Bethany and Ryan's private cabin proved to be the icing on the cake as we caught an amazing sunset to cap off the end of their wedding day.
All in all, an absolutely amazing and perfect day full of all of my favorite things. Future brides, please, please PLEASE hike a mountain in your wedding dress! I promise it'll be worth it! And, huge shout out to Amber Lamphere from Saddleback Studio for being my second shooter that day!
