Winter Engagement Photos in Lake Placid, NY
Scheduling winter engagement sessions in upstate New York can be a bit of a challenge. From days where the windchill may be as low as -40F to freak snow squalls that can shut down the north way, having your engagement session happen on the day it’s originally scheduled for is a rarity.
Greg and Toni’s session was one of those rarities.
The week leading up to their photos was the week where much of the midwest was experiencing temperatures colder than Antartica and while the weather wasn’t that extreme here in the Adirondacks, it was still colder than what I would have deemed safe to take engagement photos in.
On a Saturday earlier this month, we met up at the Adirondack Loj in Lake Placid. Snow fell lightly, wind gusted (quite) steadily, and the temperature was about 40F warmer than it had been a day before…making it a temperate and almost balmy (ha!) 18F.
After a crazy year of photographing 40 weddings and nearly twice that many engagement sessions, I had taken a month off to recuperate and avoid total burn out. These two were my first engagement session of 2019 and let me tell you, they set the bar high. I’m so excited to see what the rest of the year brings!
